WELCOME TO CASTT : SA CHAPTER

Council of Australian Secondary Tourism Teachers (SA Chapter)
is a professional association for secondary teachers of Tourism and Hospitality.

OBJECTIVES

CASTT aims to:

Provide a forum and common meeting ground for secondary Tourism, Hospitality and Vocational Educators
Promote an improved information flow and greater co-operation and understanding between them, industry bodies and personnel from businesses within the Tourism and Hospitality industries, relevant government bodies and post secondary educators and trainers
Link secondary educators with post school educators and trainers, government bodies and Tourism / Hospitality industry
Allow for an expression of a common voice on educational matters in the interests of secondary teachers of Tourism and Hospitality.

REGIONAL STUDY DAY TOURS / FAMILS

(1) GOURMET GOOLWA REGIONAL FAMIL
Saturday MAY 1st ( Term 2 Week 2 )
Note: new date

* Includes visits to tourism niche market sites, Narnu Farm and
Goolwa Visitor Information Centre

(2) BAROSSA VALLEY REGION
Saturday, MAY 29th (Term 2 Week 6 )

* Includes Orientation visit to the 5 Star Accommodation site, the Louise and Appellation Restaurant,
emerging B&B's, niche' market sites and a boutique winery.
Lunch will be held at Angaston's Roaring 40's Pizza Bar.

These famils are prepared in a manner suited to adaptation for use with students studying Senior Tourism / Hospitality. Watch this space for further details.

COMPETITION: Young Gourmet Challenge 2010

The Challenge is for your school to create a TV Show and Stage Presentation demonstrating a recipe combining native food and pasta whilst highlighting a “food issue” that relates to native foods and/or a South Australian food tourism region.
- Video entries will be judged and 3 finalists selected to present on stage during the Feast of the Senses at Tasting Australia.
- The winners will then present their show at the Australian Native Food Conference and to a national school audience via webinar.

There is a preliminary 'Meet the Judges' session for students and teachers from interested schools. This session will be delivered (totally online) by webinar.
